Philanthropy & Fundraising

As an alumnae chapter serving sisters residing in Lake and northern Cook Counties, we continue to support Alpha Chi Omega's altruisms and have been doing so for the past 47 years.

We are happy to give periodic updates on our partnership with Upscale Rummage and Furniture Warehouse, located at 801 E Park Avenue, Libertyville, IL.. Upscale Rummage is a large volunteer based non-profit resale thrift shop serving the community since 1999 through monetary donations & repurposed goods.  We are very proud that the owner Renee Baldwin is also a sister of Alpha Chi Omega sorority (Indiana University); she has been widely recognized for her many contributions back to the community she and her Sharing Partners serve.

Through the first quarter of 2024 Iota Lambda Iota members will again volunteer/work 9 hours per week (120 hours) January 2 through March 30, 2024 and earn a share of the proceeds from Upscale Rummage.  To date our chapter was able to donate over $9,700 to A Safe Place, Zion, Il; Lake County Haven, Libertyville, IL; and the Alpha Chi Omega Foundation.  Upscale Rummage welcomes donations to support area nonprofits and families in need.  In 2022 U.R. has given more than $120,000 in cash donations, helped 25 needy families through it's voucher program.  See the website for business hours, location, and donation guidelines at upscalerummage.org.

In addition to our monetary donations Iota Lambda Iota also sponsors an annual Mothers' Day party for children in transitional shelter at A Safe Place.  We arrange for the children to make a gifts and cards for their moms and have fun while doing it.

Sisters each December generously donate holiday pajamas, slipper sock sets, personal care products, candy and a host of goodies for beautiful gift bags presented to The Lake County Haven located in Libertyville, and A Safe Place.  Generous sisters donated enough to fill 34 gift bags for area women in need.

Alpha Chi Omega’s history is rooted in generosity, compassion and commitment to our sisters and the greater good.

On top of helping to support the philanthropic causes of our fellow Panhellenic organizations, members are dedicated to raising awareness and educating others about domestic violence.

The 1992 Alpha Chi Omega National Convention marked the adoption of domestic violence awareness as our national philanthropy. This issue is one we stand behind as something that affects women all over the world. Together, we work to fight against unhealthy relationships and build healthy relationships. Members serve individuals and families impacted by domestic violence through fundraising and gifts of time and talents for shelters and other service-providing organizations. Alpha Chi Omega also works to educate its own members, giving them tools to build their own healthy relationships, and to raise awareness of domestic violence by educating others on the impacts of and work being done to end it.

To learn more about or national efforts please visit Alpha Chi Omega - Domestic Violence Awareness.

Locally in Lake County, Iota Lambda Iota continues to support domestic violence awareness by rasing funds and assisting our local shelters with their needs and voluneering our time. We provide support to two local shelters A Safe Place and The Lake County Haven. We are always looking for new ways to donate our time and monitary efforts. If you have new ideas that would impact domestic violence awareness here in Lake County, we would love to hear them!
